May 2025

Congratulations to Glen Garetson!
Glen was drafted into the Army in September of 1961. He went to Ft. Leonard Wood, MO for basic training and Oakland, CA for his Advanced Individual Training. From there, he was shipped to Honolulu, Hawaii. He was in Alpha Company of the 33rd Transportation as a jeep driver. While in the Army, Glen earned an Expert Marksman badge for a rifle carbine. He was honorably discharged in August of 1963 as a E-4 Corporal. Glen went on to join the reserves for two years after his active duty. He did reserves training at Camp McCoy, WI.
After his service, Glen worked in machine maintenance at Collins Radio for 24 years. He retired from Rockwell in 1993. He began farming in 1980 with his wife Doris. Together, they farmed grain, raised pure bred Red Angus, and raised pigs from feral to finish. They have three children, three grandchildren, and one great-grandson.
Glen and Doris will be celebrating their 65th anniversary this coming June. During the winter, they have enjoyed traveling south to Texas for 14 years. They liked to golf, go bowling, and visit their children while they were there.
Thank you for your service, Glen, and congratulations to Glen and Doris for 65 years together!
