August Veteran of the Month is Bob Vander Veen.
Bob served in the Army 1982-88 and stayed in the reserves till 1994.
While in the service Bob started as a MP doing security at Sierra Army Depot in Hurlong California. Bob ended up doing special security till he was transferred to Utah to do the same. In 1985 Bob was selected into CID (Criminal Investigation Command), assigned to Ft Lewis Washington where he investigated felony crimes against the military. Bob was the NCO in charge of the drug suppression team and did personal security for the Secretary of Defense, other military officials and foreign dignitaries, while on temporary duty.
While in the service Bob received several awards and two Army Commendation medals.
After years on the farm, Bob is now starting to pick up golf again, and enjoying working in Real Estate.
He is married and his wife Deb share 3 adult children together. After the service Bob served in Law Enforcement for 8 years before returning to the farm and running a dairy farms. The last two years Bob has been working for Skogman Realty selling real estate.
